Katie Pratt, an attorney at BHGR, presented on “Social Media in the Law” on October 5th as part of a program held by the Boulder Bar Association. Ms. Pratt’s discussion emphasized the implications of social media use by litigants including, for example, disgruntled employees and plaintiffs in civil rights cases. Her examination of the topic also extended to highlighting experiences with clients, opposing parties, and offered insight into the effects and impacts of social media usage on legal matters across a wide range of practice areas. Ms. Pratt’s CLE presentation additionally focused on the laws that apply to social media platforms, evidentiary issues surrounding social media, and ethical considerations and potential pitfalls.
The Boulder County Bar Association aspires to enhance the administration of justice through providing educational and collegial opportunities to its members, fostering respect for legal principles and the roles of lawyers and judges, and by developing and supporting community outreach efforts. The BCBA “invites participation of unaffiliated professionals, and gauges the manner in which its projects have affected its members, the profession, and the public as a whole."
