Experience
Melanie Lewis' practice emphasizes the representation of public and private entities and individuals in the litigation of a wide variety of claims in federal and state courts. Melanie has experience litigating numerous civil rights, constitutional, employment discrimination, and land use claims. In addition to practicing at the district court level, Melanie enjoys appellate law, having briefed several appeals to state and federal appellate courts and having argued before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has lectured on legal issues confronting local governments, including relevant employment issues and prisoner civil rights litigation.
Melanie earned her undergraduate degree in journalism, then worked as a copy editor at a daily newspaper in eastern Tennessee before enrolling in law school. While in law school, Melanie served as the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Colorado Law Review.
