Ms. Tomey received her B.A. from the University of Vermont where she graduated in the top 5% of her class with a 3.76 GPA. She was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society in May 1975. Ms. Tomey graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law and attended one semester at the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law as a visiting student. While at the University of Arizona College of Law, Ms. Tomey was a member of the Arizona Law Review and placed second in the first year Moot Court Oral Argument Competition. Based on her academic achievements, Ms. Tomey was selected by the faculty to serve as an Ares Fellow during her second year of law school mentoring first year law students. Ms. Tomey also holds a Master's Degree in Counseling. She is a member of the Colorado State Bar Association, the Hawaii State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Ms. Tomey has done pro bono work for Hurricane Katrina survivors and animal protection groups.
