Kathleen Alt is an associate with Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti. She focuses her practice in the areas of criminal law, environmental and natural resources law, and complex civil litigation. Ms. Alt has worked primarily in state courts and is an experienced litigator and trial attorney. She has tried over 23 jury trials.
Prior to joining Berg Hill Greenleaf and Ruscitti, Ms. Alt served as a Deputy Colorado State Public Defender where she represented clients in matters ranging from class one felonies to misdemeanors, post conviction relief, and appellate review.
After graduating from the University of Denver College of Law in 2001, Ms. Alt clerked for the Honorable Daniel M. Taubman on the Colorado Court of Appeals
Ms. Alt graduated in the top 4% of her law school class and was inducted into the Order of St. Ives. While in law school, she was a member of the university's traveling appellate writing and advocacy team, the Student Law Office, and the dean's advisory counsel. She was also a board member of the public interest law group, the national lawyer's guild, and a founding member of the animal legal defense fund. Ms. Alt received several awards for top academic performance and dedication to the public interest.
Ms. Alt received her undergraduate degrees in Information Systems Management and History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Before law school, Ms. Alt had a successful career as an information technology consultant. Her clients included IBM, the Resolution Trust Corporation, the Food and Drug Administration, the Health Care Finance Administration, and the Social Security Administration.
Ms. Alt enjoys traveling, cycling, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and wheaten terrier. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and the Colorado Women's Bar.
